Frequently Asked Questions
Q-1 What is DRY-B-LO?
A-1 DRY-B-LO is the first professionally installed deck drain system (introduced in 1993) engineered, designed and patented for the specific purpose of converting wet, unusable space below raised decks to attractive, clean and dry outdoor living areas. DRY-B-LO is the largest deck drain system company in the country and continues to set industry standards and to create and offer innovative product designs.
Q-2 How much does DRY-B-LO cost?
A-2 DRY-B-LO systems must be priced on an individual basis. However, telephone estimates are available through your local DRY-B-LO representative. The toll-free number is 877-520-0111.
Q-3 What is DRY-B-LO made of?
A-3 DRY-B-LO systems are all-metal and include an all-aluminum gutter system. All of the metal components have a baked-on finish.
All wood components are pressure treated and, thusly, require a drying period of one to two months prior to painting.
Q-4 May I purchase the materials and install DRY-B-LO myself?
A-4 All DRY-B-LO systems are installed exclusively by trained DRY-B-LO technicians. This allows for a consistent level of quality control and for us to offer the DRY-B-LO Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Each DRY-B-LO technician completes a rigorous 6-day Certification Course prior to entering the field.
Q-5 Does DRY-B-LO come in different colors?
A-5 Yes. The DRY-B-LO Smooth Panel System (SPS) comes in pearl white and dark bronze and the panels are textured with a decorative embossed pattern.
The DRY-B-LO Hidden Channel System (HCS) allows for any finished ceiling material/color including painted beadboard with trim molding and stained tongue and groove cedar or redwood.
Q-6 Can the area below my deck be enclosed for a screened porch, and have ceiling fans, lights, swings, hanging plants, etc. attached?
A-6 Yes. All DRY-B-LO systems are installed in such a manner as to easily accommodate construction of screened porches and the installation of lights and ceiling fans. DRY-B-LO systems are also able to safely accommodate porch swings and hanging plants.
Q-7 Will wood stains and/or treatments damage my DRY-B-LO system?
A-7 No. Properly used off-the-shelf wood stains and deck waterproofing products have no adverse effects on DRY-B-LO.
Q-8 What happens to the leaves and debris that fall through the cracks of the deck?
A-8 The DRY-B-LO Hidden Channel System (HCS) panels were engineered to solve this problem. The unique, rounded shape of the channels causes debris to settle into the lowest point of the channel, the bottom-center. Likewise, the flow of rainwater concentrates here and carries the debris out of the ceiling in natural fashion. Although the system channels are engineered to be maintenance free, the front six-inch gutter may accumulate some small sedimentation. This gutter is easily accessible for occasional rinsing with a garden hose.
DRY-B-LO Smooth Panel System (SPS), however, may accumulate some debris over time due to the flat panel design. For this reason, we incorporate several cleaning ports into this design, making for relatively easy system maintenance.
Q-9 Am I required to supply my own gutters and downspouts?
A-9 No. Unlike other deck drain systems, DRY-B-LO systems include all the necessary gutter and downspout components.
Q-10 Can DRY-B-LO systems withstand the weight and the melting/re-freezing of ice and snow?
A-10 Yes. Our systems are carefully engineered to provide safe support of heavy ice/snow loads and have been tested and proven in several snow belt cities.
Q-11 Do you have an office in my city yet?
A-11 Please click on our location map for existing offices. Also, contact our main office for information on soon-to-be-opened territories.
Q-12 Where can I see an installed DRY-B-LO system?
A-12 In addition to viewing our products at local Home and Garden Shows, you may also visit one of our completed installations ... or perhaps even an installation in progress. Your local DRY-B-LO representative will be happy to accompany you on such a visit, although it may take a few days to make contact with and obtain permission from our customer(s).
Q-13 Does my DRY-B-LO system come with a warranty?
A-13 Yes. Each installed system includes a Dealer Warranty which protects against leaks for the life of the deck. Certain restrictions apply. The installing Franchisee is solely responsible for servicing the DRY-B-LO Dealer Warranty.
Q-14 How long will my installation take?
A-14 Once the installation begins, the work usually takes from two to five days, depending on system size and complexity. Inclement weather can also be a factor.
Q-15 How soon can you complete my DRY-B-LO installation?
A-15 Most installations are completed within thirty days.
Q-16 Do you require a down payment?
A-16 Yes. Your DRY-B-LO representative will ask for a thirty-percent down payment along with a signed sales agreement. The balance of the purchase price is not due until completion of the job.
